This early 12th century Norman
building had a Norman (semi-circular) arch at the Eastern end (right) about
half the size of the present one. The northern pillar is still
there, but was damaged when the pulpit was originally placed by
it. The semi-circular apse at the Eastern end is a guess, but was
common at that time.
The small Norman window at the Western end
was obviously put there before the tower was built. |
