Up Marrick - Grinton walk Prev Next Slideshow

The field upstream of the bridge is liable to flooding. It is known as Parks field. It is much used for camping. The worst floods were in 1986 when Hurricane Charlie caused a flash flood in Arkengarthdale & the Arkle Beck waters could escape into the River Swale which was also in flood. This was on the August bank holiday. As may be seen, a helicopter was called in to check no-one was trapped in the caravans.
