 In the distant past (18thC) choirboys climbed up the church tower and scrapped the outline of their shoes into the thick lead of the church roof. Some are named and dated. They wore wooden clogs with steel plates nailed on the toes and heel. When the roof was re-leaded recently these marks were cut out and put into the new roof.
