Lynchets in the Dales

Lynchets are medieval terraces usually made on the South facing sides of the Dale used for growing crops.
The two photographs below show the lynchets below Reeth School which are best seen from the South side of the Dale.

Reeth School is on the top edge with Reeth township right in the top right corner.

Right across the map East - West is the River Swale showing its spectacular meanders where the river cuts a new course every few years and the Reeth Swing Bridge across the river.
