REETH

Swaledale Museum

The museum is in the former Methodist school. It contains a large selection of items connected with the history of the life and work in the Dales of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. If you want to find out about the history of the lead mining in the dales, this is the place to come.
The Museum is the base for the 'Friends of the Museum' and their talks and shows by guest speakers on very varied features of the dales history.
Earlier in 2007, a series of very interesting walks to examine and learn about the bronze, iron and Romano-British ages' remains in the two dales was lead by the well known expert and author Tim Laurie. Future similar events are planned.
It is the venue for a series of events during the Swaledale Festival.

The FatSheep
A great little shop in Reeth. The primary idea behind Fatsheep is to sell only genuine Yorkshire Dales products and gifts. Do try their non-alcoholic Glendale ginger "wine".
Michael Kusz
Sculptor
Michael is a greensmith, a sculptor in copper, who lives in Grinton, but has a studio in Reeth. Look at his web-site to see the photographs of the wonderful animals he creates.
